How the Community Trust Index™ Works

A simple way to show the score and how many verified homeowners took part.

How the Community Trust Index works: Early Community Rating, Developing CTI, and official Community Trust Index

1. Early Community Rating

An early score while participation is still limited. No stars, no ranking treatment.

2. Developing CTI™

At least 5 verified homeowners, still below the community’s own CTI threshold. Not included in Best/Worst lists.

3. Community Trust Index™

Official numeric score (1–5). Board Score and PMC Score appear with stars only at this stage.

CTI Participation Threshold

Applies to every community.

20% of homes
minimum 5
maximum 15

The threshold can never exceed the total number of homes in the community. If the home count is unknown, the standard CTI threshold is 15 verified homeowners and we do not display a participation percentage.

What we show

  • We show the number of verified homeowners behind every score.
  • When the community home count is reliable, we also show the percentage of homes that participated.
  • Repeat reviews from the same verified homeowner do not increase the count.

What the CTI does not mean

  • The CTI is not a scientific poll or survey of every homeowner.
  • Homeowners choose whether to participate.
  • The score may change as more verified homeowners take part.
